Melanoma Research Foundation Career Development Award

The CDAs provide funding of up to $50,000 per year for two years to junior investigators. Researchers who are beginning a research career focused on melanoma and have not yet established strong federal funding for their research are eligible. The use of relevant genetic models and human derived tumor samples is highly encouraged. Deadline: Sept 15

Melanoma Research Foundation Established Investigator Award

The EIAs provide funding of up to $100,000 per year for two years to established melanoma researchers, or senior researchers working in closely related fields who wish to move into melanoma research. The use of relevant genetic models and human derived tumor samples is highly encouraged. Deadline: Sept. 15

Gateway for Cancer Research

Gateway supports Phase I and Phase II human clinical trials to engage in new drug discovery and the novel use of existing drugs, and to pilot complementary and alternative therapies. Phase I and Phase II clinical trials are underfunded, yet have the greatest patient impact in conquering cancer. Specific research types supported include: Targeted Therapies, Epigenetics, and Integrative Modalities (CAM). Personalized medicine/precision medicine applications are highly encouraged. Hope Funds for Cancer Research Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Hope Funds for Cancer Research is offering fellowships to postdoctoral scientists who propose to work on highly innovative research projects that challenge the traditional paradigms of understanding the causes, mechanisms, progression, disease markers or risk factors of the most difficult-to-treat cancers, including pancreatic, lung, liver, sarcomas, esophageal, brain, gastric, bone and ovarian cancers; and rare leukemias, lymphomas and MDS. Cancer Research Institute Technology Impact Award

The CRI Technology Impact Award is designed to challenge the world's leading scientists and out-of-the box thinkers to create a research plan and assemble a research team that will develop a new technology platform with the potential to transform the field of cancer immunotherapy. The grant aims to support the development of highly innovative technologies that can ultimately be adopted by the research community at large and that will enable researchers to develop the next generation cancer immunotherapies that can be effective and personalized for each patient. Identification and Validation of Novel High Risk Multiple Myeloma Targets Leveraging CoMMpass and Existing Genomic Data Sets

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is providing $1m in funding to attract innovative projects aimed at identifying the next generation of therapeutic targets and/or pathways or biomarkers for high risk multiple myeloma (MM). Deadline: Oct. 2

Metabolic Reprogramming to Improve Immunotherapy (R01)

The overall goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to (a) generate a mechanistic understanding of the metabolic processes that support robust anti-tumor immune responses in vivo, (b) determine how the metabolic landscape of the tumor microenvironment affects immune effector functions, and (c) then use this information to manipulate (reprogram) the metabolic pathways used by the tumor, the immune response, or both to improve cancer immunotherapy.

NCI Pancreatic Cancer Detection Consortium (U01)

The NCI is inviting applications from multidisciplinary teams of researchers and clinicians to establish the Pancreatic Cancer Detection Consortium (PCDC) to conduct research to improve the detection of early- stage pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and the characterization of its precursor lesions. Application deadlines: May and September 2016 and 2017, and April 2018.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Young Investigator Grant

Young Investigator Grants are designed to support scientists in the early stages of their research careers, such as postdoctoral or clinical fellows. Outstanding mentorship and demonstration of a career plan that shows commitment to pediatric cancer investigation are critical components of a successful application. Deadline: Dec. 15

Sloan Research Fellowships

The Sloan Research Fellowships seek to stimulate fundamental research by early-career scientists and scholars of outstanding promise. These two-year fellowships are awarded in recognition of distinguished performance and a unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field. Deadline: Sept. 15
